WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE BOSS?
The Chimanimani
Business One-Stop Shop is the only centre in the area offering comprehensive
business development services to individuals in the rural communities. It began as the vision of three organisations: Zimbabwe
Opportunities Industrialisation Centres, Development Technology Centre and the
Chimanimani Business Trust. Their
mission is to provide demand-driven business development services, which will
increase the employment possibilities of the disadvantaged and unemployed
citizens living in the rural areas of Zimbabwe.

Access:
The residents of the Chimanimani area will have access to various
technologies and capacity building schemes for the first time.
The BOSS will be the primary vehicle for development communication
and information programmes.

Convenience:
The services of the BOSS, many of which complement each other will be
located under one roof.

Decreased
transport expenses: Members of the BOSS will
not have to travel to multiple places to accomplish several tasks.

Knowledge-based
communities: Chimanimani will be deemed a
knowledge-based community as more and more people begin to frequent the BOSS
and obtain access to resources.

Increased
income-generating opportunities:
Through the availability of appropriate technologies, people can
create income-generating opportunities for themselves.

Community
building: The
BOSS will naturally become the gathering and meeting place for Chimanimani
residents. The centre will make
it easier for neighbours to convene and discuss important issues.

Outreach:
The BOSS will be the first centre of its kind to outreach to this specific
community.

Development:
The BOSS will aim to improve and reverse many of the socio-economic
problems such as high levels of poverty, high unemployment, low standards of
living, poor access to basic services, and lack of access to technology in
the rural communities |
