ZOIC's TRAINING CYCLE

ZOIC uses an open and participatory culturally based approach in all its training programmes, whereby all the courses are tailor-made to suit the specific needs of its different clients.  ZOIC believes that the needs, wants and environments of its clients are never the same.  Hence, we seek to contextualise training to be culturally based.  To rise up to this challenge, ZOIC has a pool of trainers with diverse backgrounds and specialisations in order to meet the needs of its wide target market.  The open and flexible approach, which ZOIC adopted gave birth to the following training cycle:

Initiation Stage
Before training commences, a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) is conducted by ZOIC after receiving a request for training.

Programme Design Stage
The TNA questionnaires are analysed to identify gaps and prioritise the common training needs of a particular client and hence, contextualise each training event to the cultural, economic and social reality.  The second step is to transform those needs into training topics.

Developing a Training Schedule
A training schedule covers topics to be addressed in their sequence.  Modules and times are then allocated to each topic.  Training material is developed from the training topics specific for each client.  ZOIC has put in place a material development mechanism, which has proved very challenging, but interesting, to the trainers.  The trainer also identifies the participatory methods of training to be used during the course and then a participative timetable is then drawn up.  A budget is developed and both parties help identify a suitable venue.

Implementing a Training Session
The ZOIC Trainers employ participatory methods, which are relevant, appropriate and current.  ZOIC believes that learning should change people's lives and this should be evidenced by change of behaviour, sharing and imparting of new ideas among the participants.

Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Services
Follow-up is conducted 2 to 4 months or per a client's request after each training activity.  Different methods are employed to assess the impact of ZOIC's training programmes on the participants.  An impact assessment report is prepared detailing the use of the acquired skills and the way forward.
